A Quarter 3 Discussion

The last time I did a blog post was in 2020. I was starting a Gatsby blog and through it might be useful to jot down my doings or thoughts on what I wanted to do for the year. I made two post, both in January, and then it died real quick (ended up spending more time in the CSS then content 💀).

That was a long time ago (pre pandemic, what a ride) and I was still working in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry working for a company who’s upper management didn’t give two shits about me. If your gonna learn one thing from this post, Value your time and worth, don’t be afraid to take steps forward in attaining it. Look back with pride.

Do Something Creative (but actually try and do it this time)

I can’t draw, I can’t write, I can’t dance. I should also try and focus on something more in my avenue rather then try something brand new that sounds cool to do. I’m going to try and do some more creative development this time round; lets see how long this mid-years resolution takes to break. Some projects I want to explore are:

• Expanding my knowledge of web dev through creative designs,
• Create a game in WebGL with ThreeJS (Three React Fiber),
• Start trying to write stuff down,
• Create a mobile app using react-native and firebase.

I don’t think I’d get even close to finishing one of these but I might work on these in parallel so I don’t get so burnt.

Something to read

I’ve been getting into podcasts lately, specifically the 7AM podcast I used to be a subscriber to The Monthly but I found that half of the articles I wasn’t interested in. They are an Australian independent media which are pretty good, I recommend you would give them a listen.

Now I did say reading right? Well I haven’t found a book to read and I’ll need to keep an eye out for a good book to read. I do need to finish Clean Code by Robert Martin so I might start with that.

Blog My Thoughts

If I want to get into the habit of doing this more often I don’t think I should linger much on the actual design of the blog. I should definitely write the content then worry about the design. That been said I am already thinking of designs and have some mockups already sketched…

I think this might give me a better way of expressing my thought and be good to go back and look at what I’ve done over the year; cause if I’ve been honest I haven’t done shit this year!

Closing Remarks

Like with everything in my life, nothing goes to plan. I mostly just take things day to day. Just have to see how this quarter goes haha…
